HYROX Singapore is on 26–29 November 2026. Counting back from late November, you have roughly six weeks — and with haze keeping a lot of outdoor running off the table, most of this plan is built to work inside a gym.
This is a general plan for someone who already trains a few times a week. Adjust the volume to where you are.
The four sessions that matter
1. Compromised running. The race is a run straight after a station, eight times. Train exactly that: a hard station, then a 1km run at race effort. This is the session that changes your race most.
2. Interval running. Treadmill at 1% incline. 6 × 1km at goal race pace with 90 seconds easy between. Builds the engine without needing outdoor air.
3. Station technique. One day a week on the stations you are weakest at. Light enough to move well, heavy enough to feel race-like. Sleds and wall balls first for most people.
4. Strength. Squats, lunges, deadlifts, carries and pulling work. HYROX is not a strength race, but strong legs make the sleds and lunges far cheaper.
Week by week
| Week | Focus | Key session |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Baseline | Time a half simulation: 4 × (1km run + station) |
| 2 | Build | Compromised running: 4 × (station + 1km) |
| 3 | Build | Intervals 6 × 1km + station technique |
| 4 | Peak | Near-full simulation: 6–8 × (1km + station), lighter weights allowed |
| 5 | Ease off | Same sessions, about 70% of the volume |
| 6 | Race week | Two short sharp sessions early in the week, then rest |
A typical build week: Monday strength, Tuesday intervals, Wednesday station technique, Thursday rest or pilates, Friday compromised running, Saturday longer easy run or bike, Sunday rest.
Haze weeks
When the PSI is in the Unhealthy range, NEA advises healthy adults to reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor exertion. Every session above works on a treadmill, rower, SkiErg and gym floor. Swap the Saturday easy run for 45–60 minutes on the bike. More ideas in haze-day indoor workouts.
Small things that save minutes
- Practise transitions. Station to run without standing around.
- Know your division weights so nothing surprises you on the day. See HYROX Singapore 2026: what to know.
- Train in race kit, including shoes and socks. A sock that slides on the sled push in week three will slide in the race too. (Feet slipping on the sled)
- Don't add new sessions in week six. Fitness is built by then; race week is for arriving fresh.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is six weeks enough to train for HYROX?
Enough to improve your time and learn the race if you already train regularly. Starting from nothing, aim to finish comfortably rather than race.
How many days a week should I train for HYROX?
Four to five. Two running sessions, one station day and one or two strength sessions cover most of what the race asks.
Can I train for HYROX without running outside?
Yes. Treadmill intervals at 1% incline and compromised running indoors cover the running side for a six-week block.
When should I taper?
Ease off in week five and keep race week short and light. Most of the benefit of a taper comes from simply not adding fatigue.
